Sorry about the delay in getting the summary out. I had some time off.
My question was what I needed to change to change IP and hostname on a
Tru64 v5.1 machine, and if there was a script to change it. This was
needed because of a switch to a new ISP.
Most pointed out the files to look at, and mentioned that netconfig or
systman (or systman network) can be used. For changing the hostname I
was pointed to the best practices document in either pdf format or html
format.

The alternative procedure was what I followed.
Instead of using sysman to change things I edited the files that I was
advised to look at, namely:
/etc/hosts
/etc/routes (default gateway, any static routes needed)
/etc/rc.config (hostname, ifconfig)
/etc/resolv.conf
/etc/networks
Tom Linden mentioned that If you I ran my own dns, I'd have to look at
/etc/namedb/hosts.db
(Actually, this machine is a dns client and not a server, but that's
still good advice.)
He also mentions that it might be wise to grep through all the files
under /etc for the ip address, and notes that dns entries are stored in
reverse.
Robert Honore cautioned that I make sure that the DNS changes and
globally registered info for Arin and Internic has been done.
Eric Sisson mentioned that rc.config and rc.routes are symlinks to
rc.config -> ../cluster/members/{memb}/etc/rc.config
routes -> ../cluster/members/{memb}/etc/routes, and if I wanted to make
a backup I should go to real directories and do it there.
The only thing I found after changing the hostname was that CDE
complained about invalid file specification starting file manager and
app manager. That was "fixed" by going into the CDE configuration, and
telling it to use CDE as a display manager (even though it was to start
with).
