Dear Managers ,

 I need advice on MA8000.

What are the repercussions of continuing with expired
  cache batteries .
Generally to continue using cache batteries ,till
the replacement arrives , one could just run FRUTIL
and "fool" the controller into believing the
battery
is replaced , this procedure then changes the
expiry
   date of the batery .

Some people continue with these expire batteries ,
till the following error pops up :

   Battery:
        NOUPS
DANGER: BATTERY BAD, REPLACE BATTERY NOW!

Now i have been told that to get around this
one can shutdown the SAN , remove and re-seat the
battery and run FRUTIL to sort it out .
but this time frutil gives :

  Write-back caching is disabled
Cache battery failed periodic diagnostic testing
performed every 4 minutes-
while charging

 and

I also get a message , failed to get battery status
etc , fault in internal cktry .

have 2 SANs , and 4 batts , all 4 give same problem

  Any advice please ?

  regards

  Peter
