SUMMARY: Password File backup copy

Hi all,

checking the /var/yp more consequently I found a file
/var/yp/src/passwd.AM_orig
I renamed that and the problem has gone.

In the meantime I got additional answers and like to thank all of you
for your efforts
Dr. Thomas Blinn, Michael Bucholtz, Kris Smith, Bill Bennett, Sarah
Clements and BL Venkatesch(Blv). Blv pointed into the right direction
saying to search for /etc/passwd.AM_orig

Original question was:
> after a crash during using dxaccounts I now get the error message when I
> want to modify a NIS user
> "Errors encountered while modifying user. Cannot create backup copy of
> password file. File exists"
>
> What is the file in question? And what to do?

This was the temporary summary:

Thanks to:
Sarah Clements:
"Have you checked to see whether /etc/passwd exists?
I believe this is where the password files as kept?"
I use NIS and all the stuff is under /var/yp where
        I didn't find something suspicious.

Bryan LaVelle:
"It may be the file /etc/ptmp. If it exists, remove it and retry."
        Unfortunately I did't find a suitable file /etc/p* or
        ptmp on other directories

Ken Kleiner:
"I think it is /etc/.AM-IS-RUNNING, or something like that."
This I already know and I could restart dxaccounts. After that
        I got the error.

Therefore the question is still open...

Thanks and regards

Otto
