Hello Managers,
I need advises about NIS. In my enviroment I have Tru5.1b Cluster enviroment. with two nodes(active-standby). I have an NIS domain on Microsoft SFU 3.5. We have two Microsoft NIS servers. (One is master an the orther is slave). And we have about 3000 users on UNIX boxes. Now we are using local password files for users. And we have to move it to NIS. On my system about 2000-2500 users log in to UNIX box via telnet and work for all day. I can imagine that after moving NIS it will take more time to log in and get the user related information. I wonder if it will be good to setup NIS Slave on the nodes and query the passwd and group files from localhost. (In the mean of local cache). I want to update the files within 15 minutes periods. And the Microsoft and UNIx servers are all connected to Gigabit based Network within the same zone. I am looking forward for your advises.
