netgroups

Hi all,

Tru64 5.1B PK2.

My /etc/exports file has grown very large and I thought
I ought to investigate netgroups. I've made a /etc/netgroup
file with a test entry in it, and run /var/yp/makedbm
to generate the /etc/netgroup.pag and .dir files,
but when I attempt a remote mount of the filesystem
specified in /etc/netgroup I get 'permission denied'.
The mount succeeds if I make a normal entry in /etc/exports.

I'm not clear from the various man pages on 'exports'
'netgroup', 'makedbm' etc quite which of the netgroup
files are necessary and where they should be. 'man ypfiles'
semms to want them to be in /var/yp/src.

Also, do I have to have the ypservice running, or
does mountd use the netgroups stuff independently
of yp?

Cheers,
Terry.
