SUMMARY Load after Oracle upgrade??

Turns out that the DBAs had turned on RAC when the relinked the database
and this was causing some of the load problems, some others were caused
by problems with the apps for which they found patches.

original question:
Our database/applications team just did an upgrade of Oracle applications
and database over the weekend and now the system load seems to be extremely
high.

Database 8i->9i
Applications 11.5.8 -> 11.5.9

OS is 5.1A

Pre-upgrade, the system load average seemed to be between 2 and 12 depending
on time of day etc. (near 0 at night). Post upgrade it's constantly pushing
30 from start of business on through the day.

I suspect that there are some tuning issues that need to be worked through,
but I want to be sure that I'm not missing anything. Is there anything that
I should look at or maybe tell the DBAs to look at that could improve
performance?

I've already verified that system parameters are set to where Oracle
recommends.

Has anybody else done a similar upgrade and noticed any similar problems?
