I never want to repeat this day it was Friday the 13th or Monday. (What ever
can go wrong will)

Original Question:
AS 2000 running 4.0g patchkit 3, 512 MB memory, 2 300 CPU's

I was wakened by a call about someone not being able to log in.

After getting on site I think that my PCI Backplane Raid 3 Channel controller
is bad. I can't access one AdvFS domain or anything that is mounted on that
mounted on that controller.

I can get a system but I can't get the domain to work.

I called T/S and they don't have one. Has anyone seen a problem like this?? I
can get more information but I need to get this system up. It is turning
ugly.

Replies from

Russ Schaefer -- Reseat connections and controller -- then replace if
necessary

Dr. Tom -- After replacing the controller card you have to reconfigure it.

Warren Strum -- Copy the configuration of the saved swxcr back to swxcr

Blake Brehl -- Same issue but was actually a hard drive failing.

Actual Answers or what has solved my issues (or seems to be)

T/S came out and reseated the cards. Error from the cards went away.

Corrupted the database (AdvFS domain) which caused the system to reboot every
time that it came to the gui.
Remmed out the domain in the fstab to get the system to boot.
Blow away the domain
REcreate the domain
Remember that you need an x in your vrestore command to make it work (as in
vrestore -vxf /dev/rmt1h -D /place_where_it belongs)
Restore the Data to the domain set
Test the domain to see it it works right.

Still at restoring the data so won't be done until possibly 9 or so tonight.
