Resetting VGA Resolution

I just installed 5.1b on two PWS 433au's and the screen resolution is
640x480, I'd like it to be at least 1024x768.

There was a message, "UPDATE: Resetting VGA resolution", last August 26
that suggested changes to the /etc/dt/config/Xservers file. When I
attempt to make such changes I get "The X-server can not be started on
display :0...".

I've skimmed through the CDE Admin guide and the X Window System
Environment manual without finding any details.

Can anyone help to make this change? And/or a pointer to
documentation?
