Baseline benchmarking software

My boss wants me to test the ultimate abilities of our ES40
system running Tru64 v5.1b and I am turning to you experts
  for advice.

How does one go about measuring a machine's full potential? I
know all the benchmarking software in /usr/field directory
and we have used Bonnie++ in the past. I have ran fsx, diskx
and presented their findings to my boss, but he insists that
there must be some software solution out there that will push
a machine to its limits producing results that could be used
daily in production environments to ascertain that the system
is not overly taxed. Is there any such beast available?

  Thanks,
