File - editing messages.txt

I love all of the active discussion on this list! However, when replying to
a message, please take care to do two things.

1. Check the subject line to make sure it reflect the topic. If you change
topics, please change the subject line also. This helps folks who are just
scanning their email or reading on the web to decide which messages to open up.

2. Please, please, please edit your reply messages. It is good netiquette to
edit the message you are quoting to only the relevant parts. A couple of
lines are preferred. In general, the quoted part of your email should be
shorter than your reply to it! Folks who are receiving this list in digest
format end up with a HUGE file and end up re-reading the same thing over and
over. It's enough to drive someone nuts!

If you find that you are overwhelmed with the number of messages generated
here, consider changing to digest or web only format. Digest will compile
all of the messages into one large message and send it out once a day. Web
only will stop email and allow you to read the messages at the list website.
This is a great setting for vacations. This list is very active, averaging
between 10 and 20 messages a day.

Thanks for being a part of 4h-ccl!
