Cups running on a cluster

Dear Managers,

a few months ago I installed CUPS (Vers. 1.1.19) on an Alpha Tru64 5.1A
System. The system used to work fine and now we plan to extend this
proved solution on a tru64 5.1A two-node-cluster. The installation didn't
cause any problems, but I can't get cups running as a
multi-instance-application. Does anyone use cups as
multi-instance-application on a multi-node-cluster running tru64 Vers 5.x?
As far as I know CUPS is designed to work with the so called "implicit
classes" which means that a server can take over a job from another server
if one server is 'out of order'. But in this case I don't have two single
server but one cluster with two machines, the same file tree and the same
ip address.
Cupsd is able to start on the first node, but when I try to start it (even
when I try to start a completely independent second installation of cups)
on the other node I get the message "cupsd: Child exited with status 48!".
The same happens the other way around (First start on the second node,
first node exits with status 48).
Any ideas, comments or experiences?

Thanks in advance,

Nils
