Largest drive supported by 1000/1000A?

Hello all:

I've been asked to increase the size of an external drive attached to two
AlphaServers: one 1000 and one 1000A.

Right now they have 18GB drives in external enclosures plugged into the
motherboard controller: narrow on the 1000, wide on the 1000A.

What I'd like to find out is what the largest physical drive supported by 4.0d
on these systems' internal SCSI controller.
