Hi all,
I 'm thankful to Mark Deiss,Remigijus Vaitelis,Phil Baldwin,Uwe
Lienig,sematin (Noah).
This was a pure DNS Problem. Entries in the DNS for Forward Lookup &
Reverse Lookup were not properly defined. It was taking 30 sec. for the
DNS getting timeout.
Once it was defined on the Primary DNS server the response time came
back to fraction of seconds.

Thanks again for explaining the theory behind it.

Regards.
Vimal

Subject: Telnet/FTP delayed response -intermittent

Hi all,

Recently I'm facing a strange problem of delayed response of TELNET/FTP
in all the Alphaservers (8200/ES45/DS20E). There are 3 TruClusters of 2
Servers each & one standalone Alphaserver.
When I telnet/FTP from some PCs or Alphaservers to other Alphaservers,
the response to get Login takes 30-35 Sec. while in some of the PCs or
Alpha, it takes fraction of Sec. to get Login prompt. To troubleshoot
the Network Problem, I connected few Alphaservers with a Local Switch &
checked TELNET/FTP, Still the response was very slow (30-35 Sec).

I have tried Telnet/FTP through IP Address, it takes the same time
i.e.-30-35 Sec. to get the Login. Can somebody guide me to diagnose &
rectify this problem. Also, this site is badly affected by Blaster Virus

Thanks & regards.
