Users named multiple times in group file

Running Tru64 5.1A, reviewing our passwd file and noticed that users were
listed several times in the same groups. Does anyone know the reason for
this and if I can go ahead and take out the duplicates?

Our glory is not in never falling, but rising every time we fall.
