Dear managers:

Please, I am trying to install gcc-3.3.1 at my alphaev56-dec-osf4.0f, but I
am facing a problem that I can´t found many information at internet, only at
the mailing list of gcc I get a reply, so the problem appears as due some
problem with the cc that comes by default with OSF1, please I would want to
know if somebody here could to help me.

When I tried to install gcc, inside the objdir directory, at the configure
command I get the message:

hecking whether cc understands -c and -o together... (cached) yes
checking for gnatbind... no
checking for compiler driver that understands Ada... cc
checking whether cc accepts -Wno-long-long... no
checking how to run the C preprocessor... (cached) /lib/cpp
checking for inline... (cached) __inline
checking for volatile... yes
checking for long double... yes
checking for long long int... yes
checking for __int64... yes
checking for built-in _Bool... no
checking size of short... configure: error: cannot determine a size for
short
Configure in /usr/local/src/objdir/gcc failed, exiting.

So, I reviewed, the config.log file inside gcc folder, this contains:

.....
....
configure: failed program was:
#line 1688 "configure"
#include "confdefs.h"
#include "confdefs.h"
#include <sys/types.h>

int main() {
switch (0) case 0: case (sizeof (short) == 16):;
; return 0; }

Please, could somebody help me with some hint about this problem?

Thank you in advance.
