How to disable LSM mirroring

Dear MAnagers ,

 HAve a ES40 , runnning 5.1A , with LSM mirroring
 I need a few clarifications.

  Since the system has performance issues , will
  removing the LSM mirroring help ?
  
  Secondly , how do i go about mirroring , is
  is possible do do it using dxlsm , and will i
  need to reload the data , once the concerned
  disk /volume is unmirrored ?
