Thanks to those who responded especially John Lanier at HP.

As it turns out, (quoted from John's e-mail) "Adapter is not recognized
from SRM on Alphas

SRM does not understand the DEGPA, it will not show up. It will however ID
a device
in that slot but will not label it, therefore it does not support a network
boot.

For UNIX: Only ONE DEGPA-SA per PCI bus allowed during driver
installation.
After driver installation, additional adapters may be added to the same PCI
bus."

Upon installation of Tru64 Unix and booting, I got lights flashing on the
DEGPA.

Thanks again,
Joshua

Original message:
Hi

I am building a server and I need help trying to get a degpa-sa (pci to
gigabit ethernet) to work on an AS4100. The problem seems to be that the
server doesn't recognize the adapter.
What I mean by that is that there is no link light on the card.

I have read that the degpa-sa IS supported in an AS4100 system
http://www.partner.compaq.com:9003/priority/techline/990209123413.html

I have also read that if the adapter is not recognized in a PCI/EISA system
I should run the EISA Configuration Utility (ECU) to enable the PCI slot,
but when I run ECU I'm asked to insert a floppy containing the CFG file for
the adapter. Where do I get a CFG file?
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/digital_networks_archive/nics/drivers/gbe-release.html

There is no OS installed yet, and at the SRM console, when I run SHOW
DEVICE, all I see is:

dka500.5.0.1.1
kgpsaa0.0.0.4.1
dva0.0.0.1000.0
kgpsab0.0.0.3.0

Is there something special that I need to do to get this to work? My
adapter did not come with a CD and I have already upgraded the srmflash to
V6.0-4 Thanks for your help.

Joshua
