Thanks for multiple replies that convinced me that in my case recovery of the
user-quota may be very difficult.
Thus I restored the user-quota in the following way:
As they were lost no long time ago I used "repquota" to look for the diskspaces
and the inode-amounts the users accessed and with additional knowledge of
"default-quota" for different user-groups it took 3 hours to rebuild user-quotas
using: edquota -p "user1" -u "userx" ,
building: edquota "user1" for the x different user-groups.
