SUMMARY: sanity check: can this patch be applied in multiuser?

Thanks to Dr Tom for checking my sanity before making this change. As
suspected this file is just used to build a new kernel and no changes
realy happen until the new kernel is moved into place and the system is
rebooted. So I was comfortable running dupatch to "install' it while
the system was in use (in multi-user mode) just skipping the part that
puts the new kernel in place and reboots which I did at a later/
scheduled time.
