Well, as it turns out, the "c" partition really IS being used. With the volprint command, it was determined that "c" is used, but the volume name is vol-rz1g - can you say confusing??????

Many thanks to all who responded, ESPECIALLY bl.venkatesh@digital.com who discovered the issue with my volprint output he asked for. I am sure glad I don't have to manage THIS system.

Thanks again to all.

Jim

Subject: LSMnoprv overlaps AdvFS with 4.0f

I just ran sys_check (version 132) on a 4.0f system. The system is an ES40, with LSM for mirroring. sys_check flagged 2 drives with the following warning:

Operational: Disk rz1 partition g is overlapped, but disklabel has marked AdvFS
This suggests a disklabel or disk use problem. Please investigate (rz2 has a similar warning)

Here is the disklabel:
8 partitions:
# size offset fstype [fsize bsize cpg] # NOTE: values not exact
  a: 2 0 unused 0 0 # (Cyl. 0 - 0*)
  b: 0 0 unused 0 0 # (Cyl. 0 - -1)
  c: 17773524 0 LSMnoprv # (Cyl. 0 - 5289*)
  d: 3146706 2 unused 0 0 # (Cyl. 0*- 936*)
  e: 0 0 unused 0 0 # (Cyl. 0 - -1)
  f: 0 0 unused 0 0 # (Cyl. 0 - -1)
  g: 14626816 3146708 AdvFS # (Cyl. 936*- 5289*)
  h: 0 0 unused 0 0 # (Cyl. 0 - -1)

Now, the "g" partition is being used as /usr.
./usr_domain:
total 0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root system 24 Jul 20 2001 vol-rz1g -> /dev/vol/rootdg/vol-rz1g

I don't see that the "c" partition is being used anywhere.
It has been a LONG time since I worked with LSM. What problems, or potential problems, might this system have or develop? I don't remember what the LSMnoprv is even used for. This is a production system, and I sure don't want them to have serious problems.

Any help???

Many thanks in advance for your help.
Jim
