SUMMARY: user can't run csh

        Thanks to Mary Hunt, Rich Copeland, Oisin McGuinness, Bruce Senn,
Steven Timm and Michael Bucholtz for responding so quickly.

        Most of the ideas centered around NIS and yppasswd. I'm still going
to check into this, but I was able to repair the account.

        I changed the username to 71 and was able to log in as ix.
Unfortunately, user ix had started processes as user 70 and now couldn't
stop or modify them. So I thought I would create a temporary user 70
account they could use and run csh manually. Once I did that, I found that
I could set user ix's id back to 70 and everything is as it should be.

        Something was wedged. If I get a chance, I'll pursue this more but
it's working now and I have to move on.,
