Hi All,

Thanks to the many, many people who have responded, and to Dr.
Blinn who have some insights into why there is a 50-50 chance
of this working or not.

The Digital Server series were not only marketed for NT, they
also had a slightly different hardware configuration, in the
sense that (a) they had a different ROM, (b) they used other
PALcode code, but also (c) they use a different method to
address their main (RAM) memory.

So... *if* it works (most likely because of a very recent SRM
firmware being flashed into the system), one is lucky, as this
is "not suppsed to work". And, therefore, not supported.

Since our system indeed *boots* the kernel, we think we're OK
on the formware etc. front... but since it then starts to bomb
us with memory errors, that could be something. Going to look
into reconfiguring the DIMMs, and so on.

Again, thanks for all the responses !
