SUMMARY: Best Practice for Patch Kits Again

Thanks to all that replied (Dr. Tom, Bob Vickers, John
Lanier and Iain Barker) ....were the consensus seems
to be, baseline.

A snip'ed response, which included some exchange of
emails in between::

Well, I think you can simplify this since for V4.0G
there is NO intention to ever release another patch
kit, so you don't have to worry about ERP conflicts,
if some "early release patch" for V4.0G isn't in patch
kit 4, then it's not ever going to be in a patch kit.

.......snip.....

In your case, if it were my system, I'd probably
simply go ahead and tell the patch tool (dupatch) to
baseline the system and then apply the entire patch
kit (or as much of it as can be applied to your chosen
subsets); and this is assuming it's not aware that the
ERP security patches (SSRTs) are already in the kit
and can be just superceded.
