Well it seems that TRU64 for Oracle 9iAS is not a popular choice. I
have only had one response, and that was from someone who ended up having
to move from TRU64 to HP-UX for the project.

This is not really an answer to your question, but I wanted to let you
know that if any part of your app uses Forms Server, Reports Server, or
Discoverer, it won't work on Tru64 at all. We got burned by this so we
have five DS20s doing nothing, about to get swapped out (at HP's
expense) for HP-UX boxes. But FYI they sized five DS20s each with a
single CPU and 2GB memory for about the same number of users as you; we
never got to find out if that was enough or not.

Subject: Oracle 9i AS

I'm looking for any people on the list with experience of Oracle 9i
Application server on TRU64. I am trying to establish what sort of spec

server I should be looking at buying. Oracle and our HP VAR have sized 4
DS25's with 2 processors & 2Gb memory to support about 600 users. The
two processors seems a reasonable suggestion, but 2Gb of memory seems low
to me. I have no prior knowledge of 9i AS, so I am reliant upon advice
from suppliers and peers. Application is written using Jdeveloper, so I
guess I am asking how much memory for each OC4J container, and how much
for enterprise manager ? (But I'm guessing there!)

Another question I'd like to ask, although related, is on a TRU64 server
with all options compiled into the kernel, what sort of memory would I
need purely to run the O/S ?

Thanks,

Bryan Mills.
