 Dear Managers ,

 Sincere thanks to :

John Lanier , Michael Bradford, Chris Ford ,
Issac Chute , and Paul Thompson ,for help
 in this regard.

 The Question was :

Since a Rollover upgrade was being done of a 2 member
 GS60E cluster , from 5.1A to 5.1B , any problems
that could be possibly encountered in the process
needed to be prepared for .

 Suggestions were as follows :

  John Lanier:

 Problem:
=========
Error in the check setup stage.

*** Error ***

Member '1' appears to be booting or is in
single-user mode. Either
wait
for the node to continue booting, boot the node to
multiuser mode,
or
halt the node using the shutdown command. After
all members are
running
in multiuser mode or halted, you can rerun the
clu_upgrade command.

Resolution:
============

This stems from a missing entry in /etc/inetd.conf:

    cfgmgr stream tcp nowait root
/sbin/cfgmgr
cfgmgr

**********

Once this is added, the rolling upgrade should
complete OK.

 Chris Ford:

The only problem that I have run into is that it
takes an excrutiatinglylong time. I haven't done a
GS60, but a two node cluster of GS140s tookbetter than
8 hours. If you're short on time you may think about
removingone member from the cluster and doing the
upgrade to one node and then addedthe second member
back. Chris Ford

 Michael James Bradford:

It is quite straight forward but I think that you
should read the Tchnical Updates for Tru64 UNIX
version 5.0 and higher patch kits
(http://h30097.www3.hp.com/docs/patch/tu_update/TITLE.HTM).There
is a gotcha in there about the files /etc/dfsc* and
/etc/dfsl*.I would suggest that you install PK2 as
well.

Good luck
Regards
Michael

We implemented all the above suggestions ,
new problems that we faced were
 1) while booting from the CDROM drive during
the firmware upgrade , the system used to hang .
Finally upgraded the firmware using LFU.

2)It is better to skip the checking of tag files
during the "clu_upgrade preinstall " stage
since we have not interfered /modified any tag
files . (it will save you almost 2 hours )
3)The cluster documentation for the rollover upgrade
does not specify ,any where , the procedure to
   mount the CD media .

 thaqnks & regards

 Dominic
