Thanks to the following people who replied:

Dr. Thomas Blinn, who pretty much told me that the RAID controller would not
accept such large HDs.
Bluejay Adametz, who suggested to make sure I didn't have other SCSI devices
(such as tape drives) connected to the RAID controller.
Richard Loken, who suggested I use the RCU utility.

The RA200SRL.EXE utility I used is the serial console version of RCU, so I
already attempted that. It is what I used to setup the logical drives. I
did not have any other SCSI devices on the RAID controller, only the SCA
backplane.

The end 'solution' was to rip the RAID card out and do a non-RAID install
until which time I can afford to get a RAID controller that will work in my
setup, or until HPaq is nice enough to give us non-commercial users a LSM-OA
license :).
