The HSG80 is a fairly complex storage subsystem and will
generate its own errors that have nothing to do with the
failure of I/O requests. Such events are reported via
the SCSI Check Condition/Request Sense mechanism. The
non-transfer errors that an HSG80 can generated are
divided into a number of classes, such as for memory
errors, battery system errors, environmental and related
errors.
One of these classes is called non-transfer errors and
the error you got is one of them. All such errors have
an "Instance Code" associated with it that encodes the
internal HSG80 firmware subsystem that noticed the
condition which generated the error, an event number
within that group, a corrective action code and probably
a bytes worth of other bits. The Instance Code for this
event is 0x03f30064 and is apparently associated with
the "Swap interrupt" condition.
When you remove or insert a disk on an HSG80 storage
system, it generates a "swap interrupt". Usually it
just means that a device was swapped for another. It
could indicate other problems if nobody actually swapped
a drive. The Service Guide that came with the Solutions
kit or firmware kit for the HSG80 will explain what the
error means and will tell how to decode the Instance
Code to see what the recommended corrective action is.
