E-mail troubles

Hello,

Tru64 UNIX v5.1 (Rev. 732)

We are having a small problem with e-mails (and attachments) being cutoff or
blank. Our programs are using mailx to send messages to a distribution
lists we have setup. We started using the mailx -F -v to get a copy of the
message being sent and to have a log of what mailx did when sending the
messages. However, we still got blank messages and absolutely no log
entries of those emails being sent through mailx even though the customer
got them.

Basically, the system sends all e-mails to an Exchange server which in turn
distributes the e-mail message to the rest of the corporation and outside.
I'd like to say that this problem only happens when mailing to the outside
world, but it's also happening to our internal people.

Has anyone run across this problem before? If not, does anyone have any
knowledge of how to debug how the sendmail daemon is sending the message?

My gut feeling is that sendmail is not configured right. However, any
thoughts would be appreciated.

TIA,
