Question: Heterogeneous SANS: Tru64, Linux, Openvms

Greetings all,

I'd like to run Linux 8.0, Tru64 4.0g, and Openvms cluster 7.2.1 on the same
SAN. This SAN is currently running, but with only Openvms on it.

Even though the SAN is homogenous, I limit access to units by using
selective storage presentation.
(hsg801>set d1 dis=all enable=(ovms1,ovms2,ovms3,ovms4)

The documentation matrix mentions that I should enable zoning on the
switches, something I've never done before.

The Question:
Why do I need to create zones on the switches if the HSG can limit the units
per OS by using selective storage presentation?

Thanks in advance!!
