Hi all,
I have a question on setting up NIS and C2 security in a heterogenous OS
environment (tru64,linux and SCO).

 Can i configure the NIS master server's (tru64 & trucluster 5.1A) C2
security to just have /etc/shadow without trusted computing base ?
If so , Can i distribute the /etc/shadow as a NIS map to non-tru64 clients
(Suse Linux and SCO) for authentication?

I found from the archives that the above possibilites are remote but hopes
never die for me:)

My original intention is to find authentication solution for tru64 clients
(tru64 5.1A and OSF 4.0F) and non-tru64 clients(linux and SCO) through the
Tru64 NIS master server(tru64 5.1A) without distributing the encrypted
password text .

Any help in this regard will be appreciated.

Thanks & Regards,
Bala S
