problem with special devicefile for tape

Hi Guru's (again!)
 
When I boot on the 5.1a OS CD, and selects a prompt I cant generate a
special device-file for my AIT 50 (SDX-500C), though I can see it with
hwmgr view devices. How do I generate a special devicefile, so I can
restore from the Unix-prompt, after booting on a 5.1a OS CD?
 
I have not been able to figure out what values to use with mknod, so I
could generate the device-file by hand, if its possible.
