Thanks for all who gave advice and resolutions.

Till now, I am still operating my 2100 with 2 memory modules, the
other memory module I got is good (I swapped it and tested OK), but
whenever there is 3 memory modules in the system, it doesn't work.

>From the options catalog and other resources, i made sure that
there is no problem adding this 3rd module power and slot wise.

It might have something to do with kernel parameters, or system
configuration, I have to try more troubleshooting next available
downtime.

Will post another summary if new things appear.

Regards,

-Mohamed

 Subject: Memory on AS2100

Hi all
I have a strange problem here, I hope I can find anyone who
experienced
it out there.

The system is Alphaserver 2100A Rackmount (8 PCI & 3 EISA slots)
running Tru64 Unix V 5.1 patchkit 5, has 2 CPUs and 2 Memory
Modules
B2022-FA (512 MB) for a total of 1 GB memory.
When I try to install a third memory module (the same part
number), the
system passes the test fine, I issue the boot command, starts
booting,
but stops/hangs in the middle. I have brought the HP service to
site
with a new module, and we made some replacing/swapping and he
concluded
that the memory module is fine, it might be something software wise.

Am I missing something?

By the way, I have another system Alphaserver 2100 Rackmount (3
PCI & 8
EISA slots) running V 5.1 patch # 5, has 3 CPUs and 2 memory
modules,
and when I insert this third memory module it works perfectly.
The The system bus slot allocation for both systems is the same.
and
YES, I installed the memory module according to the bus slot
utilization map.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thankyou

-Mohamed
