Administrivia: SUMMARY reminder/WARNING

The list policy message everyone received when they subscribed to this
list (and which is sent to the every member of the list every two
weeks) contains this item:

7. The person who originally asked the question has the responsibility of
summarizing the answers and sending the entire summary back to the
list. Consider this the price you pay for the advice you receive. When
a summary is sent back to the list, it should contain the word
"SUMMARY" as the first word of the "Subject" line.

I just did a quick check to see how well the honor system is working,
and overall I was impressed: most people post summaries most of the
time. Thanks!

However, there are still many more questions posted to the list than
summaries. Please try to remember to post a summary for *every*
question you post to the list--even if you received no replies.

Also, there were a couple of noteworthy "hogs"--people who've posted
13 and 27 messages since last October without posting even one
summary. They should be ashamed of themselves--they're basically
stealing the services of this list.

That was the reminder. Here's the WARNING...

I'm considering implementing a mechanism to enforce the summary
policy. I reserve the right to do so without notice, and to single out
repeat offenders. Doing so will require automatic detection of
summaries, so it's important that you flag them with SUMMARY in the
subject. For example, if you post a question with the subject:

  Subject: Sendmail alternatives

Make sure that your summary contains the subject:

  Subject: SUMMARY: Sendmail alternatives

Your cooperation will be appreciated. Thanks for helping to make this
list the valuable resource it is.
