I apologize for that incomplete summary I sent a few minutes ago.
I'm not sure what happened... I must have hit a magical combination of
keystrokes and the message got sent before I was finished composing! How
embarrassing. Here is the completed summary....

here are some of the responses...

--------
If your module model numbers are B2040-AB, you should be fine. This is
located on the edge of the card.
--------
yes... there was a "Digital Server" line that will /only/ run NT. You can
flash it with the SRM but it won't boot Tru64 or VMS... it /may/ run
Linux. If what I'm looking at is right, the Digital Server 7300 was the
AS2100 equivalent.
--------
DEC manufacured a cost-reduced version of the CPU for some systems.

Not sure about 2100, but definitely for 4100, which could only run NT and
would not boot Tru64. Not sure if the crippled version can
also run Linux or not.

-------
what what I understand from this list, if the machine is currently
running NT, you first have to update the ARC software, then you
are able to install Tru64, now which version I don't know. we have
a 2100 4/275 and are still running Digital Unix 3.2c, mostly because
we didn't feel like paying the costs to upgrade to 5.0. But I believe
that Tru64 5.0 will run on an old 2100, it's still an alpha system.
------
there is not as far as I know..they didnt start doing that until the
AS4100's
-------
The White Box systems, which were the NT only Alpha systems of recent memory
appear to have used the
AS800, AS1200 and AS4000/4100 as their base. These were much later than the
2100.

I can't find anything that clearly says one way or the other on the 5/250.

which seems to indicate that B2040-AA modules do not run WinNT, but I do
not know of any 2100 5/250 modules that do not run Tru64.
