SUMMARY2: Looking for a SEYON like emulator for Tru64

"tip" summary,

Added the following line to the "/etc/remote" file;

raid:dv=/dev/tty01:br#38400

This meaning COM1 at a baur rate (br) of 38400.

Created the ".tiprc" file in my home directory to ease my exit from tip.
It contains 2 lines;

eol=m
es=,

This was necessary because the interface to the external RAID box uses a
lot of escape sequences and this causes problems when exiting "tip".
Now all I have to do is enter; "m,." to exit.

EXECUTION...

"tip raid"

TERMINATION...

"m,."

SEYON Summary

There is an archive out there with the sources still available from
previous versions of (OSF/1(?), DU, and Tru64) if you need them. (Thanks
to Bob Marcan)

http://www.aster.si/download/tru64/SRPMS/seyon-2.14d-1.src.rpm

I currently favor the "tip" solution but it is nice to know that SEYON
is still an option (at least source wise).

Two responses, both suggested using /etc/remote and tip command.

I'll give it a try.

Thanks,

Hello Admins,

I am looking for a SEYON like terminal emulator that I can hook up from
a serial port on my ES40 to the serial port of an external RAID system
to check on it's status. I'm sure I used SEYON with Digital Unix 4.0d a
few years ago, but it does not seem to be available in the current "Open
Source Software Collection" for Tru64 5.1(a).

Does anyone use a similar software, free-er is bett-er.

Thanks,
