Thanks to Jeff Hummel's help, I am able to boot the DEC2000.
After restore root and /usr filesystems, I booted the DEC2000 from V4.0D
CDROM. Mounted the partition which has the root restored and copied
genvmunix to vmunix. I also modified /etc/fstab file to change root file
specification to the new device/partition.
Then, boot the DEC2000 from disk. Log in as root and execute #doconfig to
rebuild kernel.
Here is Jeff's response:
After booting genvmunix, run sizer -n myname and look in /tmp
for the files. One of them will contain a generic kernel and in that is a
cpu identification string that must match. Once you update the kernel file
in /sys/conf/mysystemname to have the new cpu id, you should be able rebuild
the kernel with doconfig -c mysystemname

Can I restore an Alpha 4100 system device (includes root and /usr file
systems) to a DEC2000 level's workstation ? The O/S level is Tur64 V4.0D.
