Hi all

Life is so wonderfull, I got replies from

Dr Thomas.blinn
Alan Rollow
Macdonell Dennis
Siolshagen, Thomas and
Bert nance ( was not in office :) )

Thanks a lot to you all

my original question was

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

I have reinstalled tru64 5.1a and have a parttioning question. There
are three disks dsk0 , dsk1 and dsk3

root_domain is on dsk3a
usr_domain is on dsk3g
usr_local is on dsk1c

The third disk i.e. dsk0 i want to partition in 2 partitions e.g.

dsk0b advfs
dsk0c say swap

the problem is diskconfig is showing the whole disk i.e. dsk0c as being
used as advfs i made it unused and created the partitions as i wanted
but when i reentered diskconfig or see it with disklabel it shows me
just one partition of dsk0c and is being used as advfs, some how
diskconfig is making the changes and saying that it is making the
changes permanent but is not actually doing so.

Sloution is

The graphical interface "diskconfig is not always reliable" so i

1) first removed any label from the disk
     disklabel -z dsk0

2) Wrote the default label
      disklabel -w r dsk0

3) Created the partitions with
       disklabel -e dsk0

then created advfs and a swap partition have mounted advfs , still to
figure out how to use this swap partition .

Regards

Bobby
