SUMMARY(Followup 1): Tru64 new instal - but with old settings

Hi,

it is really curious. After my 3nd new installation ov V5.1B I proceeded
very carefully
- recover other disks
  advscan -r dskX
  mv <new-domain> to <old-domain>
- ls -l /var (/var looked good as it should be)
- copy old fstab back to /etc
  mount -a
  (All disk were presen)
- ls -l /var (/var looked good as it should be)
- netsetup
- DNS setup
  (here happened my problem which I desciribed in "Wrong Setup"
- ls -l /var (/var looked good as it should be)

- made a vdump of / and /usr to tape

-Reboot
The system displayed a lot of errors and did not start the
X server and I had only a commandline login.
I made
ls -l /var
and now again I had only a few (about 7 directories in /var)

I tried to vrestore -x -o yes
but got a lot of errors like
"can't overwrite /var with symblic link, exists as directory"
or
"cannot rename temp file, cross-device link"

Now I am just doing th4 4th install...(no language support)

Let's wait and see...
