We have a V5.1 system in Canada that needs to print Portuguese language
characters on printers in Brazil.
Our application produces text files with the appropriate language characters
in them, and when viewed using vi display the appropriate Portuguese
characters. When using "more" the files do not display properly unless the
LANG variable is set to Portuguese.
When printing these files out on a laser printer, the special language
characters do not print properly. Even with LANG set as follows:
LANG=pt_PT.ISO8859-1 ; export LANG
How do I print these files out on a laser printer? Are there special filters
I should be using. I am not using any filters to print with, just using PCL
escape sequences in the print file.
What is the basic approach to enabling the correct characters to print?
