de600 question on full/half duplex

I installed a de600 into a as4100 running tru64 5.1. The corresponding
switch port is set the same as srm console eia0_mode fastfd 100 full duplex,
but hwmgr -get attributes list full_duplex mode being =0 or half. Going
back and reading de600 doc's, Isee the driver ignores srm console
parameters, and defaults to autonegotiating, which ist seems to do to half
duplex. I can set this to full via lan_config, but this will not carry over
the next reboot. Is there a setting to force this default behaviour on the
de600, or do I need to create a rc.script to perform this task?
