As I feared, there is no version information or switch on rcs. I did find
the following string in the binary of rcs on 4.0d:
@(#)$RCSfile: rcsrev.c,v $ $Revision: 1.1.9.2 $ (DEC) $Date: 1995/02/16
19:53:05 $
Anyway, that is a long way from version 5.7, so it looks like I'll be
building GNU rcs and diffutils for my system. Wish me luck.
