Protecting against Network Failures

Hi Managers,

We are attempting to protect our applications against network failures.
Here is the context:

1. TWO servers, each with 2 single-port NIC cards
serverA: 10.0.1.1 (primary) and 10.0.2.1 (secondary)
serverB: 10.0.1.2 (primary) and 10.0.2.2 (secondary)
2. Each server runs a ASE cluster service
   serverA: serviceA (10.0.1.3)
   serverB: serviceB (10.0.1.4)
3. Applications on serviceA communicate with applications on serviceB
   via TCP IP ports.

UNIX: V4.0F PK#7
Cluster: V1.6 PK#7

How do we configure our network (interfaces, routes, clustering, etc..)
so that

a) if serverA's primary network card (10.0.1.1) fails, serviceA and
serviceB remain reachable (e.g., via rsh serviceA from serverB.)

b) if subnet 10.0.1.x fails, serviceA and serviceB remain reachable

I'll summarize.

Thank you,
