UPDATE: NIC speed problem

I've gotten a lot of suggestions, and need to clarify one thing: I have
tried setting this NIC to 100Mb, full duplex, but when I do, I keep getting
the message:
tu0: no SROM info for selected media
and I can't even ping anything. Not sure if that means the card doesn't
support full duplex, as I've not seen that before. Other boxes on the
switch I've manually set to full duplex, and they're working fine, so I
guess that means my card is either bad, or just doesn't support full duplex
operation?

Subject: NIC speed problem

I've got an Alpha workstation running 5.1. It's got a tulip-based 10/100
card in it, running at 100Mb, half-duplex. Downloading (ftp or smb) from
this machine I get speeds in excess of 1000KB/s. However, uploading to it,
I get around 150KB/s (same results from multiple machines). I've replaced
cables and used a different switch port, but still the problem persists.
The only issue I can find is in the messages file:
Jan 31 07:39:19 mojo vmunix: tu0: transmit FIFO underflow: threshold raised
to: 256 bytes
Jan 31 07:39:41 mojo vmunix: tu0: transmit FIFO underflow: threshold raised
to: 512 bytes
Jan 31 07:52:26 mojo vmunix: tu0: transmit FIFO underflow: threshold raised
to: 1024 bytes
Although I don't really know if that's a problem, per se. Does anyone have
any suggestions on what might cause this? I don't have another NIC to try
right now, but if I can prove it's a bad NIC, I'll got out and buy another
one.
