We installed two KGPSA-CA adapters on this Alpha 8400 system running unix
5.1. These will be used in high speed backup to remote tape facility on a
SAN. At time of install we didn't have the cables ready and hence couldn't
hook them up. When the system came up, I could see emx0 and emx2 in "hwmgr
view hierarchy" command. Now the cables (to SAN hub) are laid out, I
connected them to the cards and issued a "hwmgr scan scsi" command but saw
no new devices on emx0 or emx2. I wasn't sure which way these cable are
plugged in, hence I flipped end piece on one of them 180 degrees thinking
atleast one has to be right. The middle LED on both cards are slowly
blinking in green other wise no other LEDs blink (there are three on each).
As we never had fiber channel HBAs on this machine I am kind of confused as
to how to bring in these new tape devices.
