RESTATED: Intermittant "cannot execute [bad address]" error

No answers on the issue below, so I'll broaden the question a little.

I've tried doing searching on the error listed below. Most items come back
pointing to issues with the bourne shell. We're running Korn shell 93. Is
a "cannot execute [Bad address] message typically associated with a shell
problem? What typically generates this type of message?

Thanks!

Original question:

Whenever we run the following from a script:
cat $hplc60 rec_document_20030121120000am.lis | lpr -P whlaser

we intermittantly get the following error:
sh: line 1: lpr: cannot execute [Bad address]

Occasionally we get a similiar error when we run a mailx command from
script:

65:sh: line 1: mailx: cannot execute [Bad address]

We seem to be able to execute each command from the command line without
issue.
We're running Tru64 5.1a PK3 with KSH93G. Any advice on how to track this
down would be appreciated.
