Internet Express : creating additional servers

IX v5.9

In previous versions of Internet Express/OSIS there was an undocumented
method of creating additional apache server instances by running the script
that the OSIS install used and providing new parameters for directory names,
etc. The newly created instance would automajically be added to the list of
servers to manage because the management scripts would build the server list
dynamically based on the directory structure and some tag files.

In the "new" PHP-based management front-end this capability seems to be
missing. The names of the available servers are hardcoded in many .php
scripts and there doesn't seem to be an easy way of adding a new apache
instance.

The admin manual doesn't address adding new instances. I really need a new
instance, not a virtual host, to take advantage of multiple NIC's and IEEE
802.1q trunking.

Does anyone have a good way to create new apache instances under IX 5.9?
