I wondered how best to keep a users account active but not allow them to
receive email any longer.
I received dozens of replies, and the 2 most common methods were
to alias the user to /dev/null, or to set permissions on the users mail
file so the message would be undeliverable. One solution was to
alias to a phrase, like user:this_account_has_expired, which would bounce
back to the sender with at least some kind of info. Thats the one I'm
using now, but I may go the /dev/null route at some later date.
