We are trying to do some system tuning on our ES40 cluster running Tru64
5.1a. One of the recommendations was to calculate the unified buffer cache
hit rate and adjust the ubc_minpercent value. Originally our calculations
showed a hit rate of 49.8%, after adjusting the ubc_minpercent the
read_looks and the read_hits now equal zero. Checking the getblk_hits and
getblk_misses are both zero on one node and 1020 and 1026 respectively on
the other node.
We changed the values using the kernel tuner gui on both nodes and restarted
the cluster. Do these values look valid? Should we have recompiled the
kernel after making these changes?
