SUMMARY: Node 2 of cluster won't boot...

Dear Managers,

It took me longer to write this summary than it did to get the first
to my question!

The question itself:

    Dear Managers,

We had a power-cut today and, as our UPS was out of action, our cluster
    went down.

Once the power was back and stable, I tried to reboot everything.
Member1 of the cluster came up fine, but member2 says:

ics_mct: icsinfo set for node 1
ics_mct: Declaring this node up 1
panic (cpu 0): CNX MGR: Another node has already booted from this disk
    syncing disks... done
    drd: Clean Shutdown

Can anyone suggest why this might be, and what I could do about it? I
note that the boot message mentions "node 1" but it really *is*
    member2...

    Background: member1 - ES40, 4 processors
                     member2 - DS20, 2 processors
                     storage - HSG80

    Running Tru64 5.1 pk3

Thanks to Lee Brewer, Tom Blinn, Tim Cutts and Jason Orendorf who all
had different takes on the same underlying cause. To quote Lee Brewer:

> Did you happen to edit the sysconfigtab lately....

Inspired! Yes I did. In fact, what I did was copy the one from the
other member of the cluster (I'd been mucking around with the proc
subsystem to increase memory limits). Of course, the boot disk is
encoded there, so it was trying to use the other member's disk, and
rightly telling me that it had already been booted. I had been waiting
for a quiet time to reboot this member - the power cut just forced this
on me.

As another respondent said of himself (having made the same mistake) I
win the muppet-of-the-week award!

As ever, very many thanks,

Andrew
