formfeed at last line of form causes paper loss

Good morning sysadmins,

we run a application that produces print output with a length of up to
71 lines.
The application prints a formfeed character after the last line of
visible text of each printed page.
Therefore it may (and it very often does) print the formfeed character
on line 72.

The form length ist 72.

This causes the printer to advance the paper twice.

Unfortunately the application can not be changed.

Any idea how to automatically join the line with the formfeed character
to the last line with visible text?

Example:

text
text
<formfeed>

would become

text
text<formfeed>
